The activities of the South Central AHEC are part of a South Texas effort by the Center for South Texas Programs at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, with core funding provided the State of Texas and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration.

HEALTHCARE ADMINISTRATION DEGREE
Health related careers are some of the most sought after in today’s competitive job market. You do not necessarily need to be a doctor or nurse to work in the healthcare sector. A career in healthcare administration does not require a medical degree, yet prepare you for a lifelong and fulfilling care in the field. Master of Health Administration (MHA)
The degree emphasizes the conceptual, analytical, and applied skills required to hold management-level positions in various healthcare settings. Its curriculum includes a variety of courses and opportunities to study social, economic and technical issues that influence today’s highly regulated healthcare sector.
The degree may be completed in two to five years, depending upon a student’s enrollment status. While some schools may offer it as a general health administration study program, others may offer specializations in the following sub-fields:

Medical and health services managers, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) earned a median yearly salary of $88,580 in 2012. Their job growth is expected to be at the rate of 23% faster than the average job growth for all other occupations from 2012 to 2022.
